Charity funds rocket at Lymm bonfire

LYMM and District Round Table’s annual bonfire has amassed a staggering £20,000 for charity.

This dwarfs the record total of £13,500 and represents the most successful event in the Table’s history.

The popular event – sponsored by Kids Planet Nursery and held at Lymm Rugby Club – wowed the crowd with two fireworks displays, a range of food, refreshments and fairground rides.

Lymm Ladies Circle, who served up some warming beverages, contributed £1200 to the total, while Statham Community Primary School raised over £300.

Bonfire organiser and Round Table member Steve Liput said: “We are delighted with the amount we have raised this year and a big thank you must go to everyone who came along, our main sponsors Kids Planet, the rugby club for hosting us and the traders who also provide a welcome contribution to the charity kitty.

“It was clearly a very busy night and we need to think carefully about how we manage the crowds next year in order to ensure it remains one of the best bonfire and fireworks displays in the local area.

“That said, our next big job is to decide who to donate all the charity money to!”
