Lymm Beer Festival makes a barrel load for charity

LYMM’S second beer festival pulled in the crowds once more with over £2,500 raised for charity.

Over 500 ale lovers sampled the range of beers and ciders on sale at the annual two-day event held by Lymm and District Round Table, which also featured live music and entertainment, with hearty grub served up by Lymm Ladies Circle.

Richard Storey, who helped to organise the festival, said: “Pulling it all together has certainly been hard work but well worth it when totting up the thousands of pounds we’ve raised for charity. It’s fair to say that the event was more successful than we could have ever wished for – the fine weather certainly gave everyone a thirst and the event was so popular that the drinkers managed to finish all the ale just before we stopped serving!

“This could be seen as great management of supplies but rest assured, we’ll be monitoring the weather closely next year and ensure we have sufficient supplies for the 2013 event.”

Darren Walter, festival visitor and medical director of NW Air Ambulance – one of the beneficiaries of a Round Table charitable donation – added: “This is a great community event, not just because it brings local people together but its proceeds give a real boost to charities who are crying out for funding. I’ve got first-hand experience of the Round Table’s generosity and long may events like the Beer Festival continue.”
